About
About Velvet Petalia
A small set of free tools for the practical side of a beauty shelf.
What it is
Velvet Petalia helps you keep track of when opened makeup and skincare should be replaced, what each use of a product really costs, and what you have on your shelf. There are four tools: the PAO expiry tracker, the makeup expiry chart, the cost-per-use calculator and the beauty shelf inventory.
How it works
Everything runs in your web browser. Your product list and calculator entries are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device and are never uploaded; there is no account to create. Exported files are made on your device, and imported files are read there too.
Where the figures come from
The guidance on how long products last comes from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Dermatology, Cleveland Clinic and Baylor Scott & White Health, and the symbols from the EU Cosmetics Regulation. Each page names its sources and links to them. Where sources disagree, the expiry chart shows every figure rather than picking a favourite.
These are general rules of thumb, not medical advice and not a test of your particular product. The symbol or date on your own pack comes first, and a product that smells, separates or irritates should go whatever its date.
What it is not
The site sells nothing and does not review or recommend beauty brands. The two services in the Recommended section and the footer, CleanTempMail and WebTraceCheck, are free tools from the same owner; they are linked because they help with sign-ups and unfamiliar shops, not because anyone paid for a mention.
